Here arrived Colombus on his last trip when he sailed along the Central American Caribbean Coast. The origins of the Sapzurrean community go back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when a group of Afro-Colombian settlers entered the Darien region sailing the Caribbean Sea and remained permanently in the area after the displacement to Panama of the Kuna ethnic group, the natural inhabitants of these lands.
